The renovation of Ramtec's almost 25-year-old painting line became topical, and during the tender based on the price-quality ratio, the company ended up concluding a supply contract with Joensuu-based Pekotek Oy. The line delivery included the modernization of the painting and drying chambers, the renewal of the Power & Free conveyor systems and Pekotek's Digital Twin condition system. In addition, the control logic of the shot blasting machine was updated during the modernization and the painting equipment was renewed to be able to paint with watercolors in the future while reducing VOC emissions that are harmful to the environment. In the future, the operation and conditions of the line can be monitored more closely using the Digital Twin system. Among other things, the system monitors the condition of filters, utilization rates and automatically saves surface treatment conditions in a database.

The project started in the autumn of 2021 and ended in the beginning of 2022. The tight schedule was affected by the minimization of Ramtec Oy's production downtime. From the beginning of the project, the cooperation between Pekotek's and Ramtec's players was easy and seamless. Of course, each project has its own small problems and the problem with this project is the supply of components from foreign actors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The equipment was delivered on site at the end of 2021 and the project was completed in 2022. Equipment testing began in 2022 without major problems and the plant has been successfully commissioned.
